Press Release: “Walk with a Smile” Fundraiser April 29

April 28, 2023

A fundraising event to benefit Trenesa “NeeNee” Lee will take place Saturday, April 29, from noon to 6 p.m. at Veteran’s Park in Orange. Lee, a Gordonsville resident and Orange County High School graduate, is a paraplegic since birth who became a quadruple amputee due to sepsis in 2021.

Proceeds from the “Walk with a Smile” fundraiser will go towards a set of prosthetic hands for Lee. Prior to the amputations, Lee was able to work full-time, and she hopes that the new prosthetics will allow her to maintain an independent lifestyle. Lee has currently raised approximately $18,000 with a goal of $200,000, the amount needed to cover a pair of custom prosthetics.

Saturday’s activities will include three rounds of walks on the trails behind the park, live music, food, a bouncy house, games and face painting. A nurse will offer a presentation on health and limb loss awareness. In addition to opportunities for donating directly to the fundraiser, t-shirts will be available for sale at the event.

“Walk with a Smile” is organized by the Lee family in partnership with Avis Beasley Community Outreach Group and Hit the Deck Entertainment. For more information, call (434) 282-3430. To donate to the campaign, visit the GoFundMe link here or send directly via $Trinicalee on Cash App.
